Founder and CEO of Operation Blankets of Love
Eileen Smulson is the co-founder and executive director of Operations Blankets of Love (OBOL), a non-profit organization that helps provide comfort and care to homeless animals in shelters and rescues in California. Smulson established OBOL in 2008 after learning about the lack of resources in animal shelters. OBOL has since grown to become a major provider of pet-related aid in the region, with a network of volunteers and partners. Smulson has received several awards for her work with OBOL, including the "Volunteer of the Year" award from the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control and the "Woman of the Year" award from the California State Assembly.
Eileen teaches how to be kind and to respect all animals and people through humane education. Humane education also teaches values such as empathy, compassion, responsibility, anti-bullying and teamwork. By incorporating these values into her lessons, she aims to end animal abuse and prevent pets from ending up in shelters.
